HOW HAS THE RECENT EXECUTIVE ORDER AFFECTED YOUR MATERIAL DONATION NEEDS? 

Our need for standard welcome kit items for new families is lower than past years. We also have limited storage space. So the best way to support new families through in-kind donations is to purchase items from our Household Kit Needs.

DO YOU NEED VOLUNTEERS TO ASSEMBLE WELCOME KITS OF DONATED ITEMS FOR NEW FAMILIES RIGHT NOW?

Yes, but only if you're part of a Good Neighbor Team that has gone through our training and is preparing to be matched with a specific family. 

 

WHAT FURNITURE PIECES ARE YOU IN NEED OF?

- small kitchen table and chairs

- bed frames for twin and full sizes (simple and easy to move)

- side tables/coffee tables

 

CAN I DONATE GENERAL ITEMS?

Yes!  However, ONLY items from this list. 

- bed bug protection mattress covers (new only, size twin and full)
- box fans  
- plates and bowls 
- microwaves
- tea kettles (electric)
- serving tray for tea
- winter boots (mens, womens childrens)
- pack ‘n plays

 

CAN I DROP OFF HOUSEHOLD ITEMS AT WORLD RELIEF CHICAGO?

Yes, but as ONLY the items listed above, please. Unrequested items make extra work for us and take away from our ability to help refugee families. Email jnagel@wr.org to inquire about dropping off an item/items on this list.  

 

WHAT HOUSEHOLD ITEMS ARE NOT HELPFUL?

These items are commonly dropped at our office, but are NOT helpful. Please do not bring them: toys, baby-related accessories other than the ones listed above, electronic equipment (including stereos and TVs), wall hangings, purses, house plants, old shoes,  (lightly used winter boots are acceptable).
