World Relief is one of ten national organizations contracted with the US Department of State to resettle refugees from all over the world. World Relief Chicago begins working for new refugees and their families prior to their arrival and offers services their first 12-18 months to guide them along a path to integration in the United States.

Cultural Adjustment Case Management: Case Managers work to orient each new refugee family to U.S. culture, customs, and laws as well as assist them in accessing public benefits and other financial support during their early months of transition. Case Managers also provide individualized planning and counseling based on the unique assets and needs of each family.

Employment Counseling and Job Placement: Through individualized counseling, each adult learns about employment customs, workers rights, completing applications, interviewing successfully, utilizing public transportation, and budgeting a paycheck. Employment staff work closely with each person to assess their strengths and appropriately place them in a meaningful job, utilizing a network of employers with whom they advocate on behalf of hiring refugees.

Medical Case Management: Medical case managers aid new families by ensuring that they receive the medical care that they need to address concerns that they came with and live a healthy life in their new home. Staff orient refugees to the American medical system, aid in scheduling specialist appointments, counsel on how to properly take medication and arrange special transportation to and from hospitals and clinics.

Priority 3 Family Reunification Program: WRC offers FREE assistance to qualified people in applying for their family members to gain access to the U.S. Refugee Resettlement program through the Priority 3 Family Reunification application.
